For College Students Applying to Medical School
This interactive program allows students aged 18 years and older to spend a week shadowing Summit Medical Group (SMG) doctors in a specialty area of interest. These doctors have been selected because of their interest and commitment to sharing their knowledge through teaching. Students’ days will be structured to provide a variety of experiences in an array of medical settings and specialties. By shadowing doctors at one of our SMG campuses, participants experience firsthand the critical role they could play as future doctors.
Shadowing activities provide unique insights into doctor-patient interactions, testing, exams and procedures. Students also have the ability to engage with medical professionals throughout the week, explore rotations and ask questions.
This immersive program will allow students to explore various aspects of the medical profession.
- Opportunities Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Daily morning lectures by different department heads
- Rotating physicians in different specialties
The program will inform, inspire, and help students better determine their field of study. To that end, it is also helpful with directing students throughout the medical school application process.
